Unlike other cracked heels & hands treatments, our products do not contain Urea or Salicylic Acid...or countless other Toxic Ingredients.

Why shouldn't I use Salicylic Acid to treat my cracked hands or heels?
Salicylic acid is absorbed through the skin and excreted through the kidneys. When it is applied to large surface areas and left on for a long time, your skin will absorb a lot of it. If you have diabetes, or any sort of kidney dysfunction, salicylic acid levels can build up and become toxic to the heart and other organs.

I learned first hand how even the smallest amount of salicylic acid can become toxic to people with compromised kidney function. I had a patient who was using topical salicylic acid to treat a small wart on his foot. He has mild kidney disease and noticed ringing in his ears (this is the earliest sign of salicylic acid toxicity) about six hours after he applied the salicylic acid to his wart. I instructed him to quickly rinse off the salicylic acid. The ringing went away and he was just fine.

If the levels of salicylic acid had continued to rise, his heart could have been affected.

Why shouldn't I use Urea to treat my cracked hands and heels?
Urea creams are very popular and effective for treating cracked hands, heels and thickened skin. The urea softens the skin and makes it easy to pumice away if desired.

Unfortunately, when urea is manufactured, a very carcinogenic by-product called 1,4-Dioxane is formed. When you apply urea to your skin and leave it on for long periods, the 1,4-Dioxane is very easily absorbed.

Urea is a waste product made by our bodies. When applied to the skin, urea is absorbed very rapidly. High concentrations in the body are damaging and can be especially detrimental to people who are prone to gout, who have diabetes or who have kidney disease. High urea levels have also been associated with autoimmune diseases such as rheumatoid arthritis.

Urea is toxic to our waterways and contributes to algal blooms when it enters the environment.

WARNING: Do not use any products that contain these chemicals!

Cracked feet, also known as heel fissures are a common problem for people of all ages, mostly caused by lack of moisture. There are several factors that cause this epidemic such as: soaps that dry out your skin, plain old drying of the skin—which is made worse if you don’t wear socks on cement or hard wood floors, cold weather, too much exposure to the sun and the unavoidable element of aging. Other causes include, standing for long hours, continuous exposure to water, being overweight, and wearing improper footwear. Conditions like eczema, psoriasis, thyroid disease and diabetes can also contribute to this problem. Cracked feet look unattractive and in some cases can lead to infection and extreme pain.

Healthy Skin Secret 1: pH Balance

We discovered that healthy skin has a pH that is moderately acidic— between 4.6 - 5.6. This moderately acidic pH naturally protects your skin against harmful bacteria and viruses and supports a healthy skin barrier that keeps moisture in and other harmful elements out.

However, when you wash your skin with traditional soaps, you scrub away the skin’s natural acidity and make it alkaline. Even using pure water washes away your skin’s natural acids. Most lotions and moisture replacement therapies are very alkaline too, which makes the problem worse.

Our research showed that helping the skin regain its natural acidic pH was critical to treating the worst skin condition.

Healthy Skin Secret 2: Lipid Replacement

Healthy skin has a delicate balance of ceramides, very long chain fatty acids, cholesterol and cholesterol esters. Too much of one or the other is what leads to multiple skin diseases. Too little of these important lipids and your skin dries out and cracks.

Many of the treatments recommended by doctors today are made with just one of these critical ingredients, like cholesterol. But if you put cholesterol on your skin without the balance of other lipids, the result is eczema, increased wrinkles, and dried-out, rashy skin.

Our research made it clear that replacing the right lipids in the right combination is a vital step toward healthier skin.

Healthy Skin Secret 3: Anti-inflammatory ingredients that help restore the skin barrier

Certain anti-inflammatory agents play a significant role in restoring a healthy skin barrier. The ingredient that is most helpful is called 18 ß-glycyrrhetinic acid. Despite its scientific sounding name, this compound is derived from licorice and has significant anti- inflammatory, anti-bacterial, and DNA reparative qualities.

Scientists who have worked with 18 ß-glycyrrhetinic acid have noted that it fights staphylococcal and MRSA infections as well as viral infections like RSV and Candida. All three of these healthy skin secrets play an important role in relieving painful, dry, itchy red skin conditions. When you combine them together in the right concentrations, what you get is a powerful skin care product that helps support and restore healthy skin.

Niacinamide and The Super Vitamin for Skin

With countless research studies showing effectiveness in eczema, acne and rosacea, niacinamide also packs an amazing anti-inflammatory punch. Niacinamide also has DNA-reparative functionalities that are perfect for damaged, inflamed and infected skin. The TrueLipids combination of niacinamide and 18 ß-glycyrrhetinic acid is incredibly soothing to your skin.

Introducing TrueLipids®, the skin care products that return itchy, dry, red, flaky skin back to health

TrueLipids restores the skin’s natural acidic pH balance with a patent-pending mix of healthy skin supporting nutrients called pH-Protect™. Made with Polyhydroxy Acid which doesn’t crystalize and irritate skin like citric or lactic acid, it locks moisture deep into the skin so it stays naturally hydrated. It is also an anti-oxidant which improves the skin’s appearance and prevents irritation.

Your skin barrier is made up of an exact combination of skin barrier lipids: 47% ceramides, 11% free fatty acids, 24% cholesterol and 18% cholesterol esters. TrueLipids is the only product to address the exact natural skin barrier lipid balance that research has shown keeps skin healthy. Isostearyl isostearate, another powerful lipid that has been shown to protect your skin’s natural moisture levels, is also included. TrueLipids is made with LipidRelease™ technology that uses polyglyceryl fatty acid esters to moisturize and deliver lipids into skin over time—without surfactants like ammonium salt, which can crystalize and irritate skin.

Tested, Measured Results

We tested the TrueLipids products with 25 children aged 6 months to 18 years, applying the products twice daily for two weeks. The results were excellent. Physicians who participated in the test noted an:

  • 87% improvement in desquamation (a measure of the skin’s scaliness)
  • 86% improvement in dryness and redness
  • 85% improvement in irritation

To make sure that TrueLipids delivered on its promise, we conducted repeat insult patch testing on 200 people to ensure that these formulas are as gentle on the skin as expected. We saw zero allergic reactions and zero irritant reactions.

Free of 88 of the Most Common Allergens

Perhaps most important of all, TrueLipids is made without any of the 88 top allergens commonly found in other skincare products—things like bees wax, parabens, PEGs, fragrances, dyes and 83 other potentially allergenic ingredients. TrueLipids is truly allergen free.

Compared to Others

What’s more we also conducted a TEWL inhibition analysis (that’s a measure of how well TrueLipids prevents skin from drying out) and found it performed with flying colors!

In a double blinded patient preference study, patients preferred TrueLipids to Aquaphor®. TrueLipids was also less greasy and leaves the skin feeling more natural than Aquaphor®.

Enough Science. Look at the Results

With a 98% success rate our patients couldn’t be happier, but the real proof of TrueLipids is in the pictures. Take a look at our testimonials from our customers. In mild and moderate cases of atopic dermatitis, TrueLipids alone delivered amazing results in as little as 7 days.

Cracked heels are likely a result of an abnormal degree of desiccation (getting dried out), a lack of normal sloughing, abnormal thickening of the skin due to repeated microscopic levels of injury to the skin of the foot, and in some cases, there is most certainly an aspect of overly rapid skin cell production that is building up and making the skin exceptionally thick. This overly thick and dry skin is very prone to cracking. TrueLipids addresses these problems by replacing the lipids that are deficient from normal skin-—kind of like a nutritional deficiency but it is a fat deficiency in your skin. When these fats are deficient, the skin becomes dry. The dryness affects the enzymes in the skin that are responsible for sloughing of the dead skin and then, “Voila!” your skin doesn’t slough, but thickens and then cracks and you are in pain.

The TrueLipids Products also help to calm inflammation with a combination of niacinamaide and 18-B glycyrrheitnic acid (from licorice root). This helps to soothe painful, cracked heels and helps to accelerate healing.

In addition to all this, we do not have any of the common toxins that are found in foot creams in general. We have no urea, which is contaminated with a carcinogenic chemical called 1,4-dioxane from the manufacturing process. We also exclude alpha hydroxyacids and salicylates. The alpha hydroxyacids are implicated in increased risk of skin cancer and should be avoided if possible. As for the salicylates, I like to avoid them for the sake of our diabetic and kidney-impaired friends and neighbors. I wanted to create products that even the people around us who have the most sensitive and allergy-prone skin around, that they can use the products too.

Dry skin, aged skin, and eczema-prone skin all share common deficiencies in lipid content. There are many products out there that replace the lipids that are found in normal skin, but ours are the only products that replace the lipids that are deficient from abnormal skin. In addition to this, the products are all scientifically engineered to help put the skin back into the “environment” or “conditions” it needs to heal itself and live its life normally.
